Generally, before you can do a search for any vital records in Maine, you need to know the county in which the records were first created. For example, if the ancestor you're researching were born in Franklin County in Maine, then you would go to the Franklin County Vital Records Office to begin your search. It may be that at some point the records were copied and filed at a central location in Maine, but the original would still be at the Franklin County office.

Back in colonial times, one of the big contributors to the American Revolution was tied to an event that has come to be called the Boston Tea Party. Surrounding this event was the issue of taxes being levied on tea by the British government. After the Revolution, provisions were made in the United States Constitution that made it illegal to levy taxes on citizens without having appropriate representation in the governmental process associated with establishing the tax.

During baseball's golden years, the teams were owned by men who treasured the game and dabbled at the business. In the 1950's the teams got bought by corporations whose executives treasured the business and dabbled at the game. These new owners changed the nature of baseball. They flouted the traditions, alienated the players and lost the allegiance of the fans. When a business adulterates its product, alienates its workers, loses the allegiance of its customers-think of your parents' favorite automobile company-the business often fails.

Korean War Veteran returns to the scene of his youthful military service. He is overwhelmed by the gratitude of the country he helped to free from communist aggression. What the Korean businessmen provided for these Veterans is surely a model for other rebuilt war-torn countries to put into practice. War Veterans need to know their war experience was truly beneficial as it often takes many years to discover the good in an otherwise troubling old memory.

It's time for a change. Three events into the Chase for the Championship, which I'll once again admit is a success story that I didn't see coming, and there's exactly one format adjustment I'd make. I'm not claiming I'm the first to think of it, but I'll bang the drum a little louder. (No, I'm not talking about fewer commercials, or side-by-side racing. That's needed even more, but corporate whore-mongering is what our sport does best.) Here's my latest stump: winning should count more.

Melvin Beaunorus Tolson is an African-American Modernist poet, educator, columnist, and playwright whose work concentrated on the experience of African- Americans and includes several poetic histories. He lived during the Harlem Renaissance and, although he was not a participant, his work reflects its influences. Tolson's year at Columbia University from 1931 to 1932 on a Rockefeller Foundation scholarship put him in Harlem at the end of the Harlem Renaissance thus his becoming friendly with many of the writers who were associated with it most notably Langston Hughes and got inspired to develop his poetic talent.

Job satisfaction comes in many guises. Perhaps, some workers feel connected, some receive recognition for jobs well done, some believe in what their company is accomplishing in their community, in their industry, or in the world, perhaps they have a manager who has inspired passion in their performance. In Roger Miller’s Country-Western song, Kansas City Star, the story has a hero that believes his job has almost all of that. He is the host of a kid’s television show, where he has admiring viewers, he’s recognized for what he does, and he is sought after in the community.
